Inside the Mastio Visconteo, one of the oldest buildings in the Castle of Brescia, is the Luigi Marzoli Museum of Arms.
Inaugurated in 1988, it houses one of the most valuable European collections of ancient armor and weapons, which tell the story of Brescia’s very long and prolific firearms tradition.
The Museum was born thanks to the acquisition of the collection of the knight of labor Luigi Marzoli, an important entrepreneur from Brescia.
Inside there are all types of weapons through an exhibition of over 700 pieces.
Among the numerous exhibits on display, the sixteenth-century armor is of particular importance, productions that have made Brescia famous since the sixteenth century.
Of particular importance is also the collection of firearms made by the most famous Brescian masters who testify to the work of craftsmanship over the centuries.
The museum exhibition is divided into 2 floors: on the ground floor there are rooms with medieval, Gothic and Renaissance weapons. On the first floor, on the other hand, there is an exhibition of firearms between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the weapons of the Iron Age and a multipurpose room.
