Cefalù

Cefalù is one of the most famous tourist resorts in Sicily, it is located within the Madonie Park about 70 km from Palermo.

It has been included among the most beautiful villages in Italy thanks to its historical, artistic and natural heritage.

The golden sandy beach is the perfect setting for the medieval historic center full of winding alleys and panoramic balconies overlooking the sea.

Among the main attractions of the city are the beach, the ancient medieval washhouse, Porta Pescara and the fortress of Cefalù.

The beach of Cefalù, located at the foot of the iconic medieval village, is one of the most beautiful and popular in Sicily. With its golden sand and crystal-clear waters, it’s perfect for swimming and relaxing under the Sicilian sun.

In the heart of the historic center is the public washhouse known as the “Medieval Washhouse”. The washhouse has a lava stone staircase that leads to a pavement smoothed by time and a series of basins that are filled with the waters that flow from twenty-two cast iron mouths. The waters of the Cefalino river flow into this place.

Porta Pescara is the only survivor of the four gates that opened along the city walls, it is one of the most iconic views of the sea in all of Cefalù and the whole of Sicily.

The Fortress of Cefalù rises up to 268 meters and during the panoramic route there are the remains of the Temple of Diana, a construction dating back to the ninth century BC.
