The small town of Encamp, located in the geographical center of Andorra, is a popular ski destination in winter.
Funicamp is one of the longest cable cars in Europe which, in less than twenty minutes and after covering more than six kilometers following the Cortals d’Encamp valley, takes you to an altitude of 2,506 meters with magnificent views.
The cable car, built in 1998, is open both in winter and in summer.
It is the gateway to Grandvalira, the largest ski area in the Pyrenees.
During the summer, the Funicamp becomes the starting point for walking routes and you can go hiking to discover high mountain landscapes, walks or go fishing, with activities suitable for families with children.
Getting off at the intermediate stop of the Funicamp (Els Cortals d’Encamp), you can enjoy a walk through the Cortals valley at an altitude of 1600 meters to do a via ferrata or climb the Cortals outdoor wall.
Once you reach the Les Solanelles area, at the end of the cable car, there are 14 ski slopes, a bar-restaurant with panoramic views and ski touring circuits.
Encamp is a stop on the famous GR11 hiking trail, which runs along the southern side of the Pyrenees from the Bay of Biscay to the Mediterranean.
It is also crossed by the GR7, the other hiking trail that crosses the Pyrenees from east to south and is part of the European long-distance hiking trail E4 that runs from Greece to Gibraltar.
