Swedish gastronomy offers many typical dishes known all over the world. In the first place is the fish but other main dishes are köttbullar and kanelbulle.
Köttbullar are meatballs made of beef, pork and veal impregnated with milk together with breadcrumbs, accompanied by boiled potatoes, eggs and onion. They are generally accompanied with cream sauce and jam, but there are several variations. Köttbullar is one of Stockholm’s signature dishes.
A typical Swedish dessert is kanelbulle or kanelbullar, which looks like a cinnamon roll. Kanelbulle is a leavened dough covered with a thin layer of butter, cinnamon and sugar.
Among the most important markets in Stockholm, the most famous is Östermalms Saluhall, a historic covered food market, preserved in a red brick building.
