Boršč is a soup based on beetroot, originally from Ukraine but widespread in Slavic countries.
Such a dish has become part of the local culinary heritage of many other European countries as well.
The name may vary depending on the area: in Germany it is called borschtsch, barščiai in Lithuania, barszcz in Poland and borș in Romania.
