The Dobbiaco Lake (Toblacher See in German) is a small alpine lake, of landslide origin, located in Val Pusteria at 1,259 meters above sea level in the municipality of Dobbiaco, about 100 km from Bolzano.
Dobbiaco Lake is a jewel set in a wonderful mountain landscape, located right on the border between the Tre Cime di Lavaredo Natural Park and the Fanes-Senes-Braies Natural Park. The shining water with green and blue shades reflects the rocky peaks of Croda dei Baranci and Cima Nove.
Around the lake there are 5 Italian bunkers, commissioned by Mussolini in 1939, to protect the access routes to Italy. These works are part of the Vallo Alpino in Alto Adige, precisely of the dam of the Val di Landro north.
It is strongly not recommended to immerse yourself in the icy waters of the lake even in the summer season, but it is possible to take boat or pedal boat rides.
