The Chernobyl nuclear power plant, whose construction began in 1970 to a design by Viktor Bryuchnov, has no longer been operational since the reactor 3 was shut down on 15th December 2000.
The plant consisted of 4 nuclear reactors and 3 others that were under construction.
Reactors 5 and 6 were ordered in late 1981.
Following the very serious accident at reactor number 4, the works for the further two reactors were suspended and then definitively canceled in 1988.
