The British Museum houses the largest collection of antiques and historical works in the world.

It was founded thanks to Sir Hans Sloane, who in 1759 donated his 70 thousand finds to King George II.

The British Museum tells the history and culture of the world with more than 4 kilometers of galleries and about 8 million items including objects, coins, prints and ancient drawings.

The British Museum, which welcomes more than 5 million visitors every year, is divided into the following sections:

  • Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome

  • Europe
  • Middle East
  • Coins and medals
  • Prints and drawings

The most important objects in the British Museum are: the Rosetta Stone, the Egyptian Mummies, the Parthenon Marble Sculptures, the Benin Bronzes, the Easter Island Statue, the Winged Bulls of Sargon II and the Nereids Monument.
